Meet the Committee
The Lands Committee will be at the forefront of developing our TemEEwuh na Ta hheeymOt (Land Code), working closely with the support of the Lands & Natural Resource Department. Our Committee is made up of Council members, community members, and lands staff, ensuring that voices from both on-reserve and off-reserve are heard and valued. By including a diverse range of perspectives, we can work together to create a community that reflects the needs, traditions, and aspirations of our entire Nation.

Nesa7 White is Nlaka'pamux from Lytton First Nation in Lytton BC. She currently lives in Kamloops while doing her studies at TRU, but travels to her home community in Lytton frequently and maintains close ties with her community. She pursued an education in Natural Resource Technology at NVIT which led to further studies at the university level at Thompson Rivers University where she completed a bachelor’s degree in Natural Resource Science in 2010. Nesa7 has two sons which are her driving force in life: Tylor (21) and John Bear (10). Nesa7 comes from the Machelle family, her mom is the late Beverley Machelle. I am a Cree woman and a proud member of the Nisichawayasihk (NCN). I grew up on a trapline, where my late father lived off the land to provide for us. Raised without running water or electricity, I learned early the values of resilience, responsibility, and respect for the land and everything it provides. Those formative experiences continue to shape my worldview and my lifelong commitment to Indigenous rights and justice.
I am a mother of four and a grandmother to nine, I bring both lived experience and professional expertise to my work. I dedicated 27 years of my career to public service, including 25 years with the Department of Justice Canada in the Aboriginal Law Section. Throughout my career, I worked at the intersection of law, policy, and Indigenous rights, supporting complex legal work related to Aboriginal and Treaty rights, Crown–Indigenous relations, and reconciliation.
I hold a Paralegal Diploma and I am deeply passionate about advancing Indigenous rights. I have patience, persistence, and determination, I am not afraid of a hard fight when it comes to protecting Indigenous peoples, lands, and inherent rights. Grounded in my Cree identity and lived connected to the land, I will continue to advocate for justice with integrity, strength, and purpose.
